Legal Update: Measures issued by the Judiciary in order to face the Covid-19 pandemic.

On April 23, 2020, the secretariat of the Supreme Court of Justice issued a Circular in which approved a set of prevention and protection measures for users and collaborators of the justice system, such as:

1-Sanitary measures such as the distribution of protection material in judicial headquarters: gel alcohol, liquid alcohol, soap, floor and liquid surface disinfectants, chlorine, masks and gloves; placement of sinks and liquid soap at the entrance doors of the judicial headquarters, constant cleaning of work areas.

2- Disinfection of vehicles before they enter to the judicial complexes of the country.

3- Limit the use of air conditioners in order to ventilate spaces.

4- Train internal staff in care and prevention matters.

5- Regulate the entrance of users, suppliers and service providers to the different offices.

6- Authorize to all staff with more than seven days of accumulated vacations to take it, in an orderly manner.

7- Activate the Occupational Safety and Hygiene Commissions in each Judicial Complex.

8- Enable an external window of the Office for the Presentation of Defendants to register the control of the defendants and carry out the reception of requests and the delivery of judicial documents at the complexes gate of access.

9- Activate contingency plan of ORDICE for the presentation of urgent briefs with a term expiration from 1:00 p.m.

10- Prohibit the entrance of relatives and friends of inmates to courtrooms, as well as to interns and ensure that no inmate with symptoms of respiratory diseases will be brought  before the court.

11- In court hearings between each person must have a separation of one meter away.

All this in order to guarantee the protection of the life, security and health of the users of the Judiciary.
